My art is largely about constructing and disrupting the illusion of depth. It is an exploration of the space between flat surface and images that invite you to believe they are somehow deeper. I like artists who situate themselves at either end of this spectrum, color field and abstract on one end and realists on the other. I love artists who consciously create a style for themselves at unique points in between.
As I create I keep in mind our cultural landscape which involves a huge amount of two dimensional imagery on signage, television and particularly on the sort of device you are using to read this. We live our lives in this in between space. Our future will surely involve even more time spent gazing into this two dimensional world with its illusion of depth. This is the "reality" I am interested in exploring and in reflecting through my art.
Thanks for taking a look.
